Frequently Asked Questions

Our Approach to Doggy Daycare

Doggy daycare is like a nursery for dogs — a safe, structured environment where your pup enjoys play, socialisation, enrichment, and rest while you're busy. At Eddie's, dogs are grouped by size and personality, cared for by fully trained carers, and given a balance of exercise, fun, and downtime.

Every day at Eddie's includes outdoor play in secure paddocks, socialisation with carefully matched friends, themed enrichment activities, confidence-building games, and structured rest periods. It's a full day of fun, stimulation, and care that leaves dogs happy and fulfilled.

Daycare offers much more than a walk. Your dog gets hours of supervised play, tailored enrichment, and companionship all day long. Dogs build bonds that can't be formed on quick walks, experience true belonging in their playgroups, supports socialisation, builds confidence, and prevents loneliness — all in a safe, licensed environment.

Yes! Puppies are welcome at Eddie's once their second round of vaccinations is complete (usually around 12 weeks). They join our dedicated Puppy Academy, where they socialise, learn good habits, and build confidence safely.

Most sociable dogs thrive with us, but daycare isn't right for every dog. For example, we don't accept dogs that show aggression or unneutered males that exhibit signs of dominance. We'll always discuss your dog's personality at enrolment to make sure daycare is the right fit.

Regulation & Licensing

Yes. Eddie's Doggy Daycare holds a 5-Star DEFRA Higher Standard Animal Welfare Licence, the highest possible rating. We're also fully insured for public liability, transport, and custody and control of your dog.

We're inspected regularly by local councils, and we go above and beyond with our own internal checks, audits, and training to ensure standards stay high.

Enrolment & Membership

Our enrolment process is simple:

1. Enquiry form – tell us about your dog.
2. Call back – our team will chat with you and answer questions.
3. Trial day – your dog joins us for a gentle introduction.
4. Membership – once settled, you choose your regular days and subscription.

Yes, at least one regular weekly day is required. This helps your dog settle, build bonds with friends and carers, and enjoy consistency. Extra ad-hoc days can be booked, subject to availability.

We bill monthly via Direct Debit, based on the number of days per week you book. The more days your dog attends, the lower the daily rate. See our Membership & Pricing page for details.

Of course, tour Eddie's, meet the team, and see daycare in action before your dog joins.

Staffing & Supervision

Yes. Dogs are always supervised by our trained carers, never left unattended.

We have a mix of staff who have completed QFQUAL-regulated courses and canine first aid courses. We always provide refresher training to stay up to date.

Dog Behaviour & Socialisation

No formal training is required, but dogs should be social and non-aggressive. Daycare often helps improve manners and behaviour.

We group by size, personality, and energy levels. Puppies, small dogs, and seniors have their own tailored play areas to ensure comfort and safety.

No. Many owners use our secure key-holding service, so you don't need to be there. We'll follow your instructions and notify you when your dog has been collected or dropped off.

Facilities & Comfort

Yes. Dogs enjoy heated cabins, shaded areas, and constant access indoors and out.

We give all dogs a rinse and towel-dry before home time, so they come back fresh and comfortable. Whilst we cannot guarantee perfection, we always want to make sure they don't leave muddy paws at home.

Emergencies & Safety

We'll call you right away. If urgent, and we can't reach you, we'll take your dog to your nominated vet (or the nearest available). Our team is trained in canine first aid and safety protocols.
